Personal Statement
In my work, I like the idea of play. Using everyday mundane objects. Focusing on learning about the topic of boredom and play and how this leads to object consumption. Play, is a huge factor of life and after being enlightened to learn even more of this and dig deeper, after visiting Wellcome Collections, Play Well, exhibition. Listening to the kids saying we should all play even when we are adults has made me think about the activity of playing and what it does to the brain is very intriguing to me, not only does it relieve stress but it also boosts creativity. My practise is very much multi-media, consisting of paintings and drawings, sculptures and installation, digital and film. Different mediums allow me to express my views and ideas in different ways. The artists who heavily influence and inspire me are Phyllida Barlow and Sarah Sze, both using recycled, found or collected objects to create large installations and sculptures and touch on the topic of time, consumerism, space and objects.
